This unique historic watermill which appears in the Domesday Book is still producing high quality stone-ground flour. The mill forms part of the Mapledurham Estate and is currently open to the public from Easter to the end of September at weekends and Bank Holidays between 2pm and 5.30pm in conjunction with Mapledurham House. Coach parties and booked tours are very welcome
We are very proud of the flour produced with wheat still ground by the traditional mill stones.
The range of flour we produce along with bran and semolina can be purchased during your visit , or by ordering from this web site.
Mapledurham Watermill is the last working corn and grist mill on the River Thames, which makes it the only one of its kind in the world. It is a very important part of our heritage and we are determined to keep producing high quality flour and continue with the restoration and maintenance of this beautiful building.
Mapledurham Goes Green !
New for 2011, Mapledurham is having an Archimedian Screw Turbine installed on one side of the watermill. This will mean by October 2011 we will hopefully be producing flour with the waterwheel on one side and 100 kilowatts of green electricity with a turbine on the other side.
